Sebring Race 2 Recap

The first six-hour race at Sebring didn’t go to plan, with the Aculeus Racing Corvette sustaining significant damage midway through before recovering to finish 28th out of 46.

Sunday was a new day and a rejigged running order changed the complexion of the race from the beginning.

Jelle put the car P3 with a storming qualifying lap and the team led in multiple stages of the race, consistently running in the top 5. Some mid-race difficulties struck during Aaron’s stint but two class leaders found the wall on their out laps, limiting the damage.

Shortly after the driver change to Rodney, the cold tires struck, sending the Corvette around at Sunset Bend and into the wall for seven minutes of required repairs.

While it ended the chance at a top ten finish, it was another valuable six hours of race time for the team to get used to the car.

The team improved on Saturday’s race result, finishing P21 in class.

Quotes

Daniel Borgertpoepping, Team Owner

“We were running in a great position for the first three-and-a-half hours of this race and that’s the thing to focus on. Rodney put in a mega stint to open Saturday’s race and was the reason we were competitive until the crash with another car in that one. Today was just a rough moment in a strong weekend of racing. These early races are data points and valuable preparation for 2026.”
