Aculeus Racing Lands First 24-Hour Podium

Aculeus Racing marked the return of the Britcar 24 Hours with a podium, finishing P3.

This is the best result in a 24-hour event in the team’s history. The grid included major names in sim racing and in real racing, like Jimmy Broadbent, Steve Alvarez Brown, and Rory Alexander.

The team drove the Ford Mustang GT3 for the race at Silverstone and made the most of it, suffering only minor instances of damage in an overall clean race. Kallum Williams qualified P2 overall, providing the perfect position to battle at the front. While some early race contact threatened to derail the team’s effort, strong pace and solid consistency between Kallum and Jack Vincent-Spall helped stem the bleeding.

Kallum and Jack drove the first several stints before Rodney Roberts and Daniel Borgertpoepping traded stints a few hours into the race. The climb up the leaderboard continued as the hours passed.

And then…rain!

A common occurrence at Silverstone, rain started coming down around 16 hours into the race, forcing Kallum and Jack to adjust and guide the car through the treacherous corners around the circuit. They managed it with considerable effectiveness, bringing the Mustang closer to the podium.

After the rain cleared, Aculeus was in P4 and trying to hunt down P3, Chimera Racing, for the podium. A strategy call to double stint tires and only take a half-tank of fuel for the final stretch put Aculeus ahead of Chimera by about 20 seconds after the final pit cycle was complete.

Jack was tasked with getting the car to the finish line and protecting the lead as the Chimera chased on fresher tires.

While the gap closed to eight seconds by the line, the Aculeus Racing “Scorpion” took the checkered flag for the historic result.
